Anuradhapura Regional Centre Library

The Anuradhapura Regional Centre Library is one of the eight regional center libraries within the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) library network, situated along Jayanthi Mawatha, Anuradhapura.

Established in 2010, the ARC Library currently houses a robust collection of over 7,000 curriculum-aligned study materials and reference works recommended by academic faculties. We provide high quality information services, research assistance, and welcoming study spaces to empower students and faculty.

Core Library Services

The ARC Library provides convenient book borrowing facilities for all registered members. Students in Level 3 and above who have not registered borrowing membership at Nawala or another regional library are eligible to apply.

  • Undergraduate students: Eligible to borrow 2 books for a standard period of 2 weeks.
  • Book Renewal Privilege: Books can be renewed for an additional 2-week period if not reserved by another reader.
  • Circulation system tracks your active borrowings, due dates, and return history.
  • Overdue Fines: Standard nominal fee of Rs. 10.00 per day per book applies on overdue returns.
Lending Services

Comprehensive reference facilities are open to all registered OUSL students and academic staff members upon presenting a valid student ID or staff identification.

  • Permanent Reference (PR) and General Reference (R) collections available on-site.
  • Access to encyclopedias, dictionaries, gazettes, law reports, and past examination papers.
  • Assistance from library professionals for identifying primary and secondary reference sources.
Reference Services

ARC Library regularly conducts structured interactive workshops to bolster research skills, digital discovery, and scholarly writing for OUSL learners.

  • Information Literacy Skills & Effective Database Search Strategies (2 Hours).
  • Citation Management, Referencing Guidelines & Anti-Plagiarism Tools (2 Hours).
  • How to Find Literature & Empirical Papers for Academic Research (2 Hours).
  • Writing a Research Proposal & Project Documentation (2 Hours).

Public Access Directions

The Anuradhapura Regional Centre is conveniently located on Jayanthi Mawatha, Anuradhapura town. It is easily reachable from the Anuradhapura Central Bus Stand (approx. 5 minutes by three-wheeler or local bus) and Anuradhapura Town Railway Station.
