Kandy Regional Centre Library

Serving the second-largest user community of OUSL with comprehensive academic and research collections.

The Kandy Regional Centre (KRC) Library serves the university’s second-largest user population, including students and staff at KRC and nearby study centres. Located in the peaceful surroundings of Polgolla, about 10 km from Kandy city, the library provides an ideal environment for learning and research. It offers modern facilities, including air-conditioned reading rooms, individual and group study spaces, leisure reading areas, free Wi-Fi, laptop facilities, and computer workstations with internet access. The library provides extensive print and electronic resources, lending services, research support, and user education workshops, supported by dedicated staff. Reference Service

We provide academic documents either as physical photocopies or digital electronic scans with rapid turnaround times.

  • Delivery of scholarly research articles and journal papers.
  • Past question paper sets and specific book chapters.
  • Official university forms, circulars, syllabi, and study manuals.

Our Inter-Library Loan service allows members to borrow books from the Main Library at Nawala or any other university library.

  • Requested volumes delivered to KRC Library within one week.
  • Standard two-week borrowing loan period for requested materials.

Membership & Borrowing Facilities

Flexible borrowing privileges for registered students (Level 3+), diploma candidates, postgraduate scholars, and university staff.

  • Undergraduates: 2 books + 2 course materials for 2 weeks (Rs. 500 deposit)
  • Postgraduates: 2 books for 2 weeks (Rs. 5,000 deposit)
  • Academic Staff: 3 books for 3 months
  • One-day Visitor Membership available at Rs. 100 per day

Public Access Directions

Bus route - from the Kandy Clock Tower Bus Stand towards Polgolla via Katugastota Road. The journey usually takes approximately 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
